The problem is, when you've experienced trauma or been on the receiving end of constant criticism, it's unlikely that you'll be expressing your truth at all. And that means you'll be attracting all the wrong people into your community!

When you consistently focus on the right things, at the right time, in the right order it's amazing how fast you can create results. I'll never forget sitting across the table from "Belinda" and listening to her telling me how she didn't feel there was anything special about her or what she did. 6 weeks later she'd generated £ 120k and within a year it had turned into £1.2m. Shall we do a little experiment to see what happens when you frequently focus on the right things, at the right time in the right order too?When I hit 40, my whole life changed.
A few years ago I was running a 6 figure visibility coaching business from a tropical island while I world schooled my children. It took me 6 months to build to that level, but when my 12 year marriage ended and I found myself as a single mother, life took me on a downward spiral. I got sick. One of my closest friends died. I found myself in a horrifying situation with my children and I stopped focusing on my business. Without that focus it died. For the past 5 years, I'd been focused on running a 6 figure online visibility coaching business from a tropical island paradise while world-schooling my 2 children.
I had it all. The husband, the kids, the sunshine, the infinity pool, 2 full-time housekeepers, a masseuse, a gardener, a personal assistant and a few very close friends. I felt fully supported and also, fully expressed.
Thousands of people had gone through my visibility challenges, learning my unique process and getting truly mind-boggling results.
My community was thriving and I was seeing the impact of my work in an up close and personal way. It was the most incredible time.
And then, within the space of a few short months my husband announced he was leaving me for another woman and my 12 year marriage ended. Soon after that, one of my dearest friends passed away from breast cancer and I found myself at the beginning of a downward spiral, on my own, lost and bewildered with two heartbroken children to take care of by myself.
I had always been the main breadwinner but I began to question my value. I mean, my husband left for another woman. What was wrong with me? Why did God choose to take my friend away from me at a time like this when I needed her more than ever? Was I being punished for something?
I quietly spiralled into depression but kept putting on a brave face for my children and my dad who was worried about me becoming a single mum in my 40's. I felt like such a failure. Life wasn't meant to be like this. Especially not at my age!
In this vulnerable state, I was wide open. I made some really bad choices and trusted the wrong people which ended up with me being subjected to more criticism than I had ever known in my life and gradually, I became someone else. I stopped getting visible because it didn't feel safe for me anymore. I stopped posting content. I stopped showing up. And I let my business (and my purpose) slowly wind down.
Of course this only added even further to my lack of self belief. It was brutal. I was now a single mother of three children. I felt isolated and afraid and as I moved into peri-menopause with a young baby and two tweens, exhaustion and overwhelm became my constant companion. I felt a long, long way away from the woman who had achieved all her dreams just a few short years before.
